We're excited to share that our first OneTraveler recipients were selected and will soon take on a travel experience for their journey inward! They are stepping outside their comfort zone for a solo trip abroad to develop and enhance their leadership, communication, financial independence and problem solving skills.
Congratulations to our 2016 OneTraveler recipients:
Shannon Kelly is a Nebraska native currently attending the University of St. Thomas and is graduating this year with a Bachelor of Arts in English with a Writing Emphasis. Shannon's itinerary will take her to Romania, Hungary, and Poland. During this experience, she is interested in learning more about teaching English abroad, as well as international education systems.
Grant Plybon is currently attending the University of Nebraska - Lincoln and is majoring in Hospitality and Tourism Management. Grant will travel to Bangkok, Thailand, where he will gain a greater view of Bangkok's culture, pushing him outside of his comfort zone and developing his self-awareness for continuing to grow his leadership skills.
Shannon and Grant researched, planned and budgeted to execute their travel itineraries. They will blog, keep a personal journal and upon their return, will implement what they've learned to make an impact on themselves and our community.
